This image of Kenny Dorham was taken two months after his classic Whistle Stop session, during an unissued sextet date that he led for Blue Note in 1961. In the late forties, the largely unsung trumpeter and composer began recording with The Jazz Messengers and later with Thelonious Monk, Joe Henderson and other artists for the label. This session is significant as this is the only time Grant Green recorded with this rhythm section.
